Enriching Components

Enrichment automatically populates missing metadata on your Portal-managed components by inferring values from your source control provider. It can detect fields like owner, lifecycle, type, and tags — saving you from manually filling in details across many components.

Prerequisites

Before using enrichment, you need Portal-managed components in your catalog. If you haven't ingested any yet, follow the Portal Mode Walkthrough to get started.

Step 1: Select Entities

From the catalog page, use the checkboxes to select the Portal-managed components you want to enrich. You can select individual entities or use the select-all checkbox to select all visible entities on the current page. If your catalog contains both Portal-managed and YAML-managed components, use the Management filter to narrow the list to Portal-managed entities only.

note

If your selection includes both Portal-managed and YAML-managed entities, a confirmation dialog will let you know that only the managed entities will be enriched. YAML-managed entities are skipped.

Step 2: Enrich

With your entities selected, click the Enrich button in the table header. Enrichment runs in the background — you'll see a confirmation notification and can continue working while it processes.

Step 3: Review Suggestions

Once enrichment completes, the Review tab will get updated with a badge showing ready to review components. Click on an entity to open a side-by-side comparison of the previous and suggested values.

Step 4: Approve or Reject

For each suggestion, you can Approve to apply the enriched metadata to the entity, or Reject to dismiss it. Changes from approved suggestions are applied immediately.
